The goalkeeper Had little to do required in the first half before called into action by an opponent's bent shot. His sliding intervention on an Albanian attacker demonstrated excellent reading of the game. 6/10

The defender Moved forward with the ball at his feet, a familiar role previously. At times was too casual when carrying play with the approach discontinued at half-time. 6

Dan Burn A nuisance from dead balls, per usual, but may be an alternative for Stones in the backline as opposed to his partner. One wayward ball in the second half almost led to an opener from Albania. Six

Nico O’Reilly One more confident showing by the youngster after his debut versus another side. Saka failed to make the opportunity from a clever backheel over their defense. The role looks secure so soon. 7

The newcomer A debut start in an England shirt. Somewhat loose in possession but his inswinging corners posed a danger. A handy pace-controller available to the coach to have against defensive opponents. Shown a yellow for a poorly timed challenge. 6

The midfielder Deliveries on corner kicks and free-kicks caused problems. Had freedom to drift down the left flank but was in an offside position as the pass came in shooting positions. Awarded a well-earned rest on the hour mark. 6/10

The star midfielder Functioned in a forward role on the right and contributed with defensive duties. Showed glimpses of brilliance but scuffed a shot wide. Withdrawn late on for a teammate, a fellow player, after being booked. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with England’s top opening of the first half, his strike excellently kept out from the opposing goalkeeper. As Quansah holding position, it fell to him to provide width on the right although his balls from the touchline were hit and miss. Substituted for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

Harry Kane The decisive figure with his two more goals at international level. His first a trademark close-range tap-in and the second a classy header following a clever run off his defender. At 32, he’s only getting better and the side are strong contenders in the upcoming tournament with him up top. 8/10

The attacker Found it tough to get into the game on the left flank. Was presented with a good opening following a pass from a teammate yet the keeper denied him. His replacement made much more of effect after coming on. 5
