Previous BBC Advisers Participate in MPs' Grilling In the Wake of Assertions of Prejudice in Leaked Document

Former British Broadcasting Corporation advisers appearing before MPs

We begin with queries from Conservative lawmaker the committee chair, who leads the panel.

She commences by offering context to the unauthorized memorandum written by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.

"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning toward one side or the other, I simply desire it neutral, unbiased and just," he declares.

In response to a query whether he thinks the BBC is systematically partial, he answers: "No, I do not. To be clear, tons of stuff the BBC creates is world class - including factual and entertainment content."

However, he continues: "There remains significant effort that needs to be done at the BBC."

A further former external BBC consultant examined by the panel, Caroline Daniel, says she regards the BBC very seriously and that it operates a "ongoing system and lively discussion" across dynamic and complex issues.

"Whether the BBC was prepared to conduct a genuine discussion and debate and take action?" she questions. "As I see it, yes they were."
