I beheld evil as intruder sought to storm house of worship, spiritual leader describes
A cleric has shared the moment when a man attempted to break into his city Jewish temple during a deadly attack, stating "I witnessed evil, I observed hatred".
The spiritual leader explained that he and fellow worshippers maintained the entrances of the temple as Jihad Al-Shamie was "body-charging the doors, hurling large decorative pots, attempting whatever he was able to to get in".
Praising the fast-acting of those at the synagogue, he stated: "I saw real courage, I must declare, and people who ran to help others rather than fleeing. It was remarkable."
One victim, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, both succumbed after the attacker hit individuals and assaulted a person on that day.

The cleric stated that the event took place before the Yom Kippur observance was in full flow, and subsequently there would have been numerous of attendees in attendance.
He remarked: "If one gentleman in particular did not act as swiftly as he succeeded and secured the gateways locked, one can picture what would have occurred."
Describing how the situation unfolded, he stated a number of worshippers kept the doors closed from the interior to ensure the intruder could not gain entry.
At some point after the authorities reached the scene, rabbi Walker mentioned two further individuals inside the synagogue were hurt.
One man was fatally shot and another person injured by officer firing, Greater Manchester Police has stated.

Talking to the press, the cleric stated he would try his utmost to offer solace to the families of those killed and the wider community.
"We feel fear but there is also backing", he said.
"I believe and wish that we can give comfort and faith. I am certain very deeply that we must not let this to beat us".
The prime minister and bystanders have applauded the spiritual leader and the protection staff as "heroes" for their actions.
When inquired if he saw himself as a hero, he answered: "I doubt that is true".
Nevertheless, a witness at the scene stated the spiritual leader had stayed composed throughout as he and fellow members guided the assembly to protection.
The family of the deceased has also expressed admiration to their "courageous person" who passed away during "the deed of bravery to rescue other people".
"His relatives is shocked by the devastating, abrupt demise of such a kind down to earth man" the message continued, as the loved ones asked for solitude to process their loss.
